Take Care of Your Teeth During Invisalign® Treatment

Posted .

Being new to any oral health treatment takes a bit of adjusting. That is why to help you care for your Invisalign® aligner properly, Dr. Chris Shannon with Shannon Orthodontics in Davenport, Florida, is happy to provide advice, so you can keep your aligner and smile in tip-top shape.

The most significant thing to remember while you transitioning your smile with Invisalign is to brush and floss your teeth regularly. The reason is if plaque, bacteria, or other food particles are stuck on your teeth, your Invisalign aligner is snapped over it, forcing it to stay there until you brush it away. This could increase your risk of cavities and the risk of gum disease. If you are continually keeping your teeth clean and fresh as often as possible, then, in turn, this can increase your positive oral health by protecting your teeth and keeping them healthy.

When you brush your teeth every day, remember your aligner. It’s smart to always rinse it out and gently clean it thoroughly. If you are drinking any tea, coffee, or any other dark drinks, remember to take out your aligner or use a straw, so your aligner will not stain. Keeping your aligner clean, can help keep your teeth clean making your smile cleaner and brighter.
